Battlefield 1‘s Open Beta period has started, after a day of Early Access for Battlefield Insiders. We don’t have an end date yet, though it’s expected that the beta will last at least four days.
Players can try out two modes, Conquest and Rush, both set in a rendition of the Sinai Peninsula.
Gamers interested in getting a look at some PC footage can do so here:
Ultra settings, 1080p with 100% render scale (which is basically downsampling from 4k)
Ultra settings at 1080p, 50% render scale (actual 1080p)
So far, DICE‘s Frostbite engine continues to impress, with the game running at 1080p 60fps with max settings on an i5 3570k, 16gb RAM and an Nvidia GTX 970. When I upped the render scale to 100 (which would be 4k) I got an immediate drop to 30fps, which makes sense, considering that I was running the game at double the resolution.
