Cellar Door Games, known for the excellent Rogue Legacy (released in 2013, how time flies!) has unofficially announced that they are working on a brawler videogame during a Twitter conversation with a fan.

@GQDStar Sure. It's our take on the Brawler genre. We felt like it was a genre that could use a re-imagining.
