GRID Returns on September 13

Racing fans rejoice! Codemasters revealed today that the GRID franchise is back, with the appropriately named GRID scheduled for a September 13, 2019 release date on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

If the name of this new entry in the acclaimed series of racing games confuses you, it’s because the first title in the franchise was also named Grid, but as it was part of the Race Driver sub-franchise, it was originally named Race Driver: Grid, which somewhat clears up the “GRID” name for this… sequel?

We don’t have a Youtube trailer to embed here (I believe IGN has the exclusivity for a day, but I could be wrong), so if you wish to witness what seems to be a very stylish imagining of how the game will look, here’s a Steam trailer stream.

GRID is a racing experience like no other. Offering unrivalled moment-to-moment racing, GRID returns with an all-new experience where every race is the chance to choose your own path, create your own story and conquer the world of motorsport.

Take your place in the GRID World Series and fight in thrilling wheel-to-wheel battles with the most iconic and desirable race cars – current and classic, from GT through Touring and Muscle to Stock and Super Modifieds – and in some of the world’s most iconic locations.

GRID captures every moment of the race, from the adrenaline rush of lights-out to the elation at the chequered flag – and in-between, it’s all action too. Incidents come one right after the other – tight overtakes, bumper-to bumper scrapes and competitive collisions – all heightened by rivalries, team-mates and a nemesis driver who will all either try to help or hinder your progress.

If all of that wasn’t enough, Codemasters have also hired Fernando Alonso to consult for this new game, using his experience and knowledge on the circuit to improve the ingame vehicles’ performance and handling according to their real life counterparts.

Having competed across F1®, Endurance and Stock Racing, GRID is the perfect game for me and I’m delighted the studio has added both myself and my racing team into the game. GRID offers so much variety and I welcome the challenge when players get to line-up against me.

GRID is available for pre-order on Steam for US$59.99 or your regional equivalent. An Ultimate Edition with extra content is also available for US$79.99.
