Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Arrives on PC on April 3

Obsidian Entertainment announced today that Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire will be released on April 3, 2018. Fans who wish to preorder the highly anticipated RPG can do so starting today, and the developers are offering some in-game bonus items as a reward for early purchases.

  • St. Drogga’s Skull – Crafted from a sabre and the skull of a martyr it will slash and burn enemies in combat, while also guiding players through the darkest reaches of the Deadfire.
  • Beakhead, the Hawk (In-Game Pet): Beakhead, the white hawk, took a liking to your ship soon after you arrived in the Deadfire. Captains in the Deadfire are only as effective as their crew, and with this jaunty first-mate by your side you’re bound to find success at sea.
  • The Black Flag: This flag is said to have been flown by a mysterious and rowdy band of seadogs from a far-off land, who dyed their sails black with a stain made from ground-up dragon glass. Dark and intimidating, but somehow attractive, nonetheless.

RPG aficionados who would like to support Obsidian with more money (and get more in-game content in return) will be happy to learn that there are three digital editions up for preorder, detailed below:

Standard Edition (game plus three preorder items) – US$ 49.99

Deluxe Edition (Standard Edition content plus soundtrack, digital pen and paper guide, digital map, digital guidebook (Vol. II) and several in-game items) – US$ 59.99

Obsidian Edition (Deluxe Edition content plus DLC packs one through three, robust content expansions to the base game that should add new areas, experiences and items, valued at US$ 30 and coming post-launch) – US$ 74.99

The Obsidian Edition will also be available as a physical release, costing US$ 79.99, and including physical rewards (a cloth map of the Deadfire region, an Explorer’s notepad and a set of postcards rendering the Deadfire Archipelago in beautiful detail).
