Remember how heartbroken we felt when GSC Game World cancelled S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 back in 2011? Well, it seems that our hearts may find some respite ten years after that event, as Sergiy Grygorovych, the owner of GSC Game World, has just confirmed that his company is once again working on a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. sequel, coming in 2021.
No more information has been shared, though GSC set up a new website for the game, and the creator of SteamSpy, Sergey Galyonkin (who now works at Epic Games), tweeted something that could be taken as a confirmation that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will run on Epic‘s Unreal Engine 4 instead of a more advanced version of the older games’ X-Ray engine
Hopefully enough members of the original team remain working at GSC Game World, since after the cancellation of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, many veterans left the studio in order to pursue other ventures.
