I’ll admit that the first thing I think of when I hear “The Surge” is not a trailer set to The End of the World by Sharon Van Etten. I’m pretty sure you will agree with me there, yet for some strange reason, the video I’ve embedded below will end up changing my mind, as the song seems to fit perfectly with The Surge 2‘s tactical violence, even if the subject matter couldn’t be further apart.

See what I mean? It’s a hypnotic thing, and I’d love to shake the hands of the people behind it, because they’ve managed to create a great trailer out of a very unlikely union of gameplay scenes and a touching song. The best part? The whole thing makes a lot of sense, despite how unrelated both parts seem to be.
